Make history by joining the Woodland Trust’s mission to plant 1 million trees across the UK.

Whether you’re a school dreaming of a greener playground, or part of a local group eager to boost your neighbourhood’s biodiversity, this giveaway is too good to be missed. The Woodland Trust is giving away hundreds of thousands of trees to community groups and schools, to create green spaces to support both nature and people.
🏫 For Schools – Plant your trees on school grounds, land your school regularly accesses, or any publicly accessible space (with the correct permissions in place!). Let your students lead the way in environmental stewardship.
🏘️ For Community Groups – Apply to plant on land that the public can enjoy — from local parks to shared green spaces. Your actions will create lasting benefits for the community and the planet.
🌱 How to Apply
  • Ensure you have landowners permission to plant before you apply
  • Follow the link to the Tree Pack Application Form (deadline 28 August 2025)
  • Request up to four tree packs, totalling up to 420 trees (for smaller plots, simply apply for one pack)
  • Trees received in November should be planted by March, and those arriving in March should be planted by May.
Tree planting doesn’t need to be complicated. Whether it’s a few trees or an entire mini woodland, your efforts will restore nature, improve air quality and bring your community together. Fill in the Woodland Trust Tree Pack Application From today to request a free pack.
Get inspired by Torriano Primary School in Kentish Town, London. They have planted new trees at their school with Lauren Child, author of Charlie and Lola. Their saplings, provided by our free tree packs for schools and communities program, are helping them make a positive impact, support wildlife and fight climate change.

We’ve awarded the Woodland Trust the Nature and Biodiversity badge in recognition of their commitment to giving everyone in the UK the opportunity to plant a tree helping move towards national 2050 Net Zero target.

We’d love to hear from you if you have a story you would like to share with us about how you are taking action to become more sustainable!
