When you find yourself needing an item for a one-off project or a task you do once a year, you can borrow the tools you need from a Library of Things. It helps to save space, money, and carbon emissions. Surrey has four Libraries of Things, the latest opening recently in Dorking.

Dorking Library of Things is run by Circular Dorking and Dorking Library. Borrow DIY tools, gardening equipment, board games, appliances, and more for free. You can also donate items that you don’t use often enough to need store yourself, so you and others can borrow them as needed. It’s a sustainable, practical, and achievable change to make.

The other Surrey Libraries of Things are in Godalming, Haslemere, and Guildford. Sign up to the one closest to you and encourage a friend to do the same!

We are proud to award the Library of Things with the Shopping Badge and the Waste and Recycling Badge for using our community to reduce the number of things individuals buy. Having shared appliances and tools benefits everyone through saved spending, storage, and sustainability.

We’d love to hear from you if you have a story you would like to share with us about how you are taking action to become more sustainable!
