Keep Britain Tidy is hosting the Great British Spring Clean where Britain has pledged to litter pick four million bags of litter between the 21st March to the 6th April. You can join as an individual, group, or school and make your pledge here.

Litter picking not only makes your area look nicer; it stops litter from finding its way to our oceans and injuring animals. If you want to start litter picking, you could join a local litter picking group or start your own! We gifted a set of litter picking tools to Dorking Library of Things, where you can borrow all sorts of items at no cost. You can also borrow litter picking equipment directly from Mole Valley District Council.

Let us know if you’re in a group that is taking part in the Great British Spring Clean or does regular litter picking events and you could be featured in our next Sustainability Story!

We are proud to award everyone who takes part in the Great British Spring Clean with the Waste and Recycling Badge for collecting rubbish to dispose of it in correct waste streams and the Nature and Biodiversity Badge for removing litter that could harm animals from natural habitats.

We’d love to hear from you if you have a story you would like to share with us about how you are taking action to become more sustainable!
