Mole Valley District Council offered a grant to Community Halls looking to be more energy efficient. Eight have been awarded funding and four of them are complete! Oakwood Hill was the first hall to use the grant to install solar panels on their roof, creating more efficient electricity, lowering the bills, and providing a safe space during power cuts. Leatherhead Community Hub and Christ Church Coldharbour used the fund to install double glazing on their windows, reducing the amount of energy it takes to heat and cool the building. Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall has installed 40 solar panels on their roof, adding to their green fundraising goal.
These halls are the hearts of their communities, providing a place to socialise and connect. By giving them the means to become more sustainable, everyone can benefit and learn from the example of the Community Halls.
Stay tuned for updates about the next Community Halls to use this grant to improve their energy efficiency!
We are proud to award Oakwood Hill, Leatherhead Community Hub, Christ Church Coldharbour, and Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall with the Energy Badge for taking action to reduce energy consumption in their buildings. As well as saving on the cost of their bills, they are lowering their carbon footprint and presenting the benefits of retrofitting to their local communities.
