To mark Sir David Attenborough’s 99th birthday on 9th May, we’re excited to promote the launch of his latest documentary, Ocean. This highly anticipated film will be screened in cinemas across the UK, including right here in Dorking! If you’d like to be among the first to see it, tickets are available now via the Dorking Halls website.
Born in 1926, Sir David’s passion for nature began as a young boy searching for fossils near his home in Leicester. That early curiosity led him to study Zoology and Geology at Cambridge University. His broadcasting journey began with Zoo Quest, a documentary he produced — and unexpectedly presented when the original host fell ill on location. That moment launched a legendary career.
Over the past 70 years, Sir David has taken us on unforgettable journeys. Exploring biodiversity, fragile ecosystems, and more recently, the growing impacts of climate change. His work has educated, inspired, and moved millions.
Knighted twice, nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, and the recipient of numerous BAFTAs and Emmys , Sir David Attenborough continues to be a towering figure in broadcasting and conservation. We’re confident Ocean will deliver another deeply impactful and visually stunning message.
